India-M win both titles of International Kang

IMPHAL, Nov 29 : India-M emerged winnners of both the men and the women categories of the 3rd International Invitational Kang Tournament and Conference 2017 which is organised jointly by Art and Culture, Tourism and Youth Affairs and Sports Departments under the aegis of Manipur Kang Association as a part of the Manipur Sangai Festival.

IMPHAL, Nov 29: The Election Commission of India has appointed Mongjam Joy Singh, IAS and Mutum Yaiskul Meitei, IAS as General Observers for by-election to be held at some ACs in Arunachal Pradesh next month.
According to a source, the by-election will be held on Dec 21 and counting of votes will be done on Dec 24.
M Joy will be the General Observer for 12-Pakke-Kessang (East Kameng) while M Yaiskul will be the General Observer for 28-Likabali (West Siang).

IMPHAL, Nov 29 : NABARD will soon sanction fund for implementation of project for preservation of water body at Lamphelpat.
As a measure for adaptation to climate change, NABARD will sanction Rs 25 crore to the State Govt for the project.
A high power committee chaired by Chief Secretary has started discussion for implementation of different projects under Rural Infrastructure fund with a soft loan of Rs 75 crore from NABARD, a source said.
Out of this amount, Rs 28 crore will be utilised for ongoing projects while the rest will be used for implementation of various projects under Works, Water Resources, MI, Health, Veterinary and AH, Agriculture and PHED.

Imphal, Nov 29 Governor Najma Heptulla has said that the National media is not giving “proper place” to Manipur.
The Governor said this while interacting with a delegation of Press Council of India (PCI), Press Association, Indian Journalist Union and Editors Guild of India which called on her here last night.
“The National media is not giving proper place to Manipur and the State has been in the news, only for wrong reasons particularly related with natural calamities and bandhs,” she told the media delegation. PTI

Congress continues campaign to open FA pact

IMPHAL, Nov 29: Former Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi reiterated that the Congress party would never accept any provisions for the disintegration of Manipur and anything that can pave way and sow the seeds for disintegration of Manipur in the Framework Agreement signed between Govt of India and NSCN-IM.

Ukhrul town chokes under high air pollution

Ukhrul, Nov 29 : Thanks to the dusty roads and massive increase in the number of vehicles as well as other machineries and in the absence of any regulations, Ukhrul town today is reeling under intense air pollution with the Air Quality Index reading 158.

IMPHAL, Nov 29: Division Bench High Court of Manipur has directed quarrying works along the National Highways of the State to be stopped immediately and has also issued notice to the North Eastern Railway to reply by December 18 through a special messenger.
