SDSA inspects exam
IMPHAL, Mar 9: The senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) in its effort to promote quality education in Senapati district conducted a strict inspection tour on March 8 of all the examination centres in the district, said a release. Listing Hill College (Tadubi), Don Bosco College (Maram), Mt Zion Senior Secondary School (Karong) and Mt Everest College (Senapati) are the exam centres which an SDSA team covered during the inspection tour, the release conveyed satisfaction at the manner of conduct of invigilators as well candidates appearing in the class XII examination. It however cautioned that SDSA would not tolerate in case either the invigilators or the candidates are found to be indulging in unfair means. SDSA also conveyed its warmest wishes to students who are going to appear in the HSLC examination, commencing tomorrow.
KSO- SH dissolved
Lamka, Mar 9: An office memorandum of the KSO Ghq signed by its president Peter H Mate today said the existing body of KSO Sadar Hills stands dissolved with immediate effect as election for the same will be held on March 20 at Kangpokpi Council Hall.
The memorandum also said the election committee headed by an RO will take over the charge of responsibilities of the dissolved body until further notification.
Run for peace
IMPHAL, Mar 9: 33 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organised a ‘Run for peace’ at Sendra, Moirang on March 7.
According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, the event witnessed a huge turnout of civilians including eminent personalities. The run com-menced from Police Station, Moirang and terminated at Sendra.
MLA Prithiviraj and Mangibabu Singh graced the occasion and also participated in the event wholeheartedly.
White pigeons were set free by the MLAs to mark the reign of peace in an where where in recent past people have started coming out openly afainst extortion, tax collection and atrocities of underground elements, the PRO said.
Ex-State BJP chief dies in Silchar
IMPHAL, Mar 9: Former State unit BJP president Raghumani Sharma died of a massive cerebral stroke at Silchar yesterday morning. He was 78.
According to information received by the
press, Sharma was in Silchar to attend the Chintan Baithak and the public rally addressed by RSS chief Mahanrao Bhagawat.
Sharma was about to start for Imphal from Silchar Kalyan Ashram in the morning yesterday when he took ill and was rush to the Civil Hospital. But the doctors declared him brought dead.
His body was taken to the Silchar RSS and later to the BJP office where BJP’s Assam Unit general secretary Ajit Bhattacharjee, Northeast co-ordinator P Chandra Sekhar Rao and district president Kirit Bhushon Purkhayastha paid homage to the departed soul before being taken to Imphal by an ambulance.
Wakat Meepham
IMPHAL, Mar 9: Demanding construction of the road, locally known as Waikhom Leikai Leirak
and located in between Langthabal and
Singjamei Assembly Constituencies, local residents of have begun a relayed Wakat Meepham from today.
The protest demonstration would continued till March 11.
It is said if MLAs O Joy and Hemochandra fail
to give a positive response in connection with construction of the said deplorable road within March 11, the local residents would socially boycott them and half of the National Highway 39 stretch would be blocked to launch various intense agitations.
Participating in the protest demonstration, one Puyam Ongbi Memsana said both the MLAs have not given
any attention to development of the said road it is located in between Langthabal and Singjamei Assembly Constituencies.
