IMPHAL, Mar 12: Kerala, Assam and Tripura completed the quarter final line-up for the 18th Senior National Women’s Football Championship.
In a keenly contested Cluster V match played to-day at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Kerala edg-ed out Delhi 3-2, while at Mapal kangjeibung Assam sealed the last four berth after a 2-0 defeat of Chan-digarh in cluster VII, as Tripura pipped Chattisgarh to the quarters inspite of the Cluster VIII match ending in a 1-1 draw.
Tripura’s passage to the last four was determined by the toss of coin.
The Kerala goals against Delhi were scored by Neju-muncesam (2nd), Subitha Poorvatha (13th) and Am-rutta Arvind (43rd) as Vinita Balmi (27th) and Tanere Hans (71st) narrowed down the score deficit.
In Assam’s triumph over chandigarh, O Dayabati (54th) and Moni munda (75th) were the scorers while in the drawn encoun-ter between Tripura and Chhattisgarh, Mohini Jama-tia (49th) cancelled Prena Mishra’s 44th minute goal.
The quarter final round will commence from March 14 at Khuman Lampak Main stadium where Manipur will face Kerala at 1 pm and Tamil Nadu will take on Tripura at 3 pm.
Yaima football
IMPHAL, Mar 12: Ching-Tam, chingmeirong stor- med into the semifinals of the 5th Koijam Yaima Veteran Football tournament with a 4-0 rout of IVFA in the third quarter final match at akampat ground today.
Angampu (23rd), Sachin Rai (54th), A Kenchak (56th) and Th Kumarjit (70+2) scored for the Chingmei-rong veterans, whose M Pahari received yellow card booking from the match official. IVFA’s L Yumjao was the other player to be reprimanded for unsporting behaviour.
The fourth quarter final tomorrow will feature FLAM against AAAVT at 2.30 pm.
