SILCHAR, Jan 10: All Assam Manipuri Youths Association (AAMIYA) is organising a mass rally against the Citizenship Bill and will submit memorandum to Silchar DC condemning the Bill and demanding ‘political autonomy’ for the Meitei community in Assam, said its general secretary Jiran Angom.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet at Settlement Office in Silchar, Jiran said that the association strongly condemned the Bill which ‘threatened’ the indigenous people of the North-East States.
AAMIYA will go all out against the Bill, Jiran said.
Saying that the Bill is against the interest of the people of the North-East, AAMIYA chief advisor Ksh Kundal Singh said that the rally on Jan 14 will demonstrate the people’s mandate and their stand against the Citizenship Bill.
He urged people to support the Jan 14 rally.
Roshan Irom, president AAMIYA and Avilash Tongbram, publicity secretary also attended the press meet.
