ACOAM-LIP bans shop for 3 months

IMPHAL, Feb 8 : The All Clubs Organisation Association Meira Paibis Lup, Kangleipak (ACOAM-LUP, Kangleipak), has banned/closed down garments shop Bright Ways (Thangal bazaar), for a period of three months, for not following proper GST rules and for cheating the people by handing out cash memos on plain papers.
Speaking to media persons at the association’s office at Lamphel, its working president Chandramani Khumancha claimed that the owner of Bright Ways, was caught red handed while handing out cash memos to customers on plain papers on February 5.
He explained that the said cash memos did not bear any labels or the name of the shop and is against GST rules.
It was learned that such conducts have been regularly carried out in many of the garment shops run by non locals to cheat the people and ACOAM-LUP has been waiting for the right opportunity to catch such esta- blishments, he added. Warning all shops to refrain from such practices, he also appealed to all the schools and educational establishments to refrain from engaging any shops run by non locals when it comes to their uniform supply.
On the other hand, the owner of Bright Ways, Sabharjit Singh and his son, Jaipal Singh, who were present at the meet, admitted to committing the unethical practices and assured that they will not repeat such acts in the future. Later, Chandramani informed that the two individuals will be handed over to the police.
