A fierce gun battle broke out between suspected Zeliang-rong United Front (ZUF) cadres and suspected NSCN-IM cadres at Namdailong village at around 12 noon today, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
Two bomb blasts rocked the State today ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. Unidentified individuals suspected to be underground militants carried out a low intensity IED blast at Wangjing Tekcham Leikai Ward number 9 under Heirok police station, Thoubal district at around 7.15 pm today.
According to a reliable source, the blast occurred some 150 meters away from BSF personnel who were on ROP party and who were approaching their camp from Wangjing Wangkhei side .
The blast took place near a pond located 300 meters away from the BSF Camp on the Northwest direction .
There is no report of any injury due to the blast till the time of filing this report
A case has been registered at Thoubal police station.
In another incident, a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in front of the Sunrise Club, Moreh at no man’s land between India and Myanmar at around 5.30 am today, informed a source.
However, there is no report of casualty.
