Manipuri girls win ‘Oorja’ National football tournament

Imphal, Jul 19: Manipur U-19 girls team won the final of the ‘Oorja’ CAPF/Assam Rifles U-19 Talent Hunt Football Tournament 2017 held at New Delhi yesterday.
Continuing their unbeaten record in the tournament, the team enjoyed a comprehensive win over Haryana by 5-1. Ranjana scored two goals while M Ratanbala, A Roja and H Ranjita chipped in with a goal each to help the team emerge as a well-deserved winner.

Imphal, Jul 19: The All Manipur Gi-Toku-Kai Karate-Do Association felicitated the medal-winning karatekas and officials who brought home laurels from the recently concluded 5th ISKF Open national Karate Championship 2017 that was held from July 14 to 16 in Guwahati.
The award winning karate-kas included: (i) Ngan-thoiba Irengbam – Gold in sub-junior category (30kg, 8-9 year); (ii) Yohen Naorem – Gold in sub-junior category (45kg, 12-13 year); (iii) Balkrishna Yumnam – Gold in senior men’s category (50kg, 18+ years); and (iv) N Bundali – Silver in senior women’s category (50kg, 18+ years)
The officials in the team included Laimayum Jotin-kumar (assistant chief ins- tructor) and L Surjit.

Imphal, Jul 18: The Maram Khullen Circle Students’ & Youth Association is organising a Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament 2017 under the theme of Joining hand for better relationship from August 11 to 14 at Raisung Ground, Maram Bazar, according to a statement from the association.
The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs One Lakh and the runners-up Rs 50,000. Interested teams can participate in the tournament by appplying with a registration fee of Rs 5,000 and the last date for registration is August 8, said the statement.

Imphal, Jul 18: The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association is conducting the 47th Sport Climbing Course
from July 25 at the Kangla Artificial Climbing Wall, Minuthong.
Interested individuals can take part in the course that will conclude on July 31 by filling up a participation form, which is available from the office of the MMTA. The last date for form submission is July 23.

Imphal, Jul 18: NEROCA FC is organising a trial and selection programme for Under-15 and 17 players on July 23 at the NEROCA FC Ground at Sangakpham. Interested and willing non-registered platers in any club for the 2017-18 season are allowed to participate in the programme. Registered players can also take part subject to the fulfilment of loan clearance, according to a statement released by the I-League club.

State players bag 3 gold medals in National aerobic gymnastics

Imphal, Jul 18: Three Manipuri gymnasts, Sneha Irengbam, Ariha Panganbam and Laishram Lanleima bagged a gold medal each in the 14th Aerobic Gymnastics National Gymnastics, which is currently underway in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
From 18 units, 503 gymnasts and officials are taking part in the championship.
The three gymnasts who won gold today are playing under different age categories: Sneha I in Under-11, Ariha P in the age 12 to 14 group and L Lanleima in the age 15 to 17 groups.
