Court directs RIMS to deposit Rs 28,54,954

IMPHAL, Mar 1: Division Bench, High court of Manipur, has directed Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to deposit Rs 28,54,954 to the State Government for immediate execution of the work in connection with the water supply inside RIMS complex.
The direction was given by the Division Bench, comprising of Acting Chief Justice N Kotiswar and Justice Kh Nobin, today, in connection with the PIL on irregularities at RIMS.
The Court heard the submission of M Devananda, counsel for RIMS and RS Reisang, counsel of the State
As regard to availability of free medicines to in house patients, M Devananda submitted that the same is being provided. However he also stated that there are certain issues which he would like to submit in a sealed cover, which the Bench allowed.
Kh Tarunkumar, Amicus Curiae, was also permitted to submit his own report before the Bench.
In connection with the laying of pipeline, RS Reisang, the Government Advocate submitted that PHED has already informed RIMS authority on February 22 about the revised estimate (to the tune of Rs 28,54,954) to be paid by RIMS authority to the State Government for commencement of water supply works inside RIMS complex.
The Division Bench opined that there shall be no further delay in executing the water supply works and directed RIMS Authority to deposit Rs 28,54,954 to the State Government immediately and also directed the State Government to start the work immediately.
The Division bench further listed the matter on March 12, and directed RIMS as well as the State authority to inform about the progress of the works before the Bench.
