‘Discover North East’ prog begins at Chandel


Chandel, Mar 12: A three day programme on “Discover North East – A Cultural Yatra” organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture, GoI and the Department of Art & Culture, GoM in collaboration with District Administration Chandel and District Administration Kakching was inaugurated at indoor stadium, Chandel today.
DC Chandel, Krishna Kumar, ex-CEO ADC Chandel, TS Kothar Monsang and Programme Officer NEZCC Oliver graced the function as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest DC Chandel, Krishna Kumar said that it is a big opportunity for the district to witness different cultural troupe from different parts of the country. He opined that India is a unique example of unity in diversity.
In his introductory speech, Program Officer NEZCC Oliver said that NEZCC started working in the year 1987, with the objective to preserve, innovate and promote the arts of the North East region and also to develop the rich diversity and uniqueness of various art form, and also to upgrade and enrich the consciousness of the people of their cultural heritage and to make special effort and works on tribal arts and to frame special programs, for its preservation including documentation and to promote various vanishing and dying art form of the region.
Today’s programme were participated by various cultural troupe from different parts of the country including troupe from West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh and many local cultural troupe.
The second and third day’s programme will be held at Sugnu and Pallel on March 13 and 14. DIPR
