Drugs seized

A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border arrested one Thangjam Ilabanta Singh (42) s/o Th Tomba Singh of Tera Wangthonbi Leikai and seized 34,544 capsules of SP from his possession on Oct 9.

According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept, the estimated value of the seized contraband drug is Rs 3,45,000 in the market.

A case has been registered at NAB PS under the provisions of NDPS Act and investigation is going on.

IMPHAL, Aug 4: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border Police Station arrested one Thoibi alias Mumtaj Begum (28) w/o Md Douwad Khan of Kshetrigao Chandam Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district along with 15 grams of No 4 Heroin powder with a cash amount of Rs 10,200 from her possession on July 31.

A case has been registered at NAB PS and investigation is going on, a statement issued by PRO of Police Dept said.

Again on August 3, a team of NAB PS arrested one Lamabam Bungcha Singh (28) s/o (L) L Pratap Singh of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak staying at present at Kshetrigao Awang Leikai, along with 1084 SP capsules and 80 bottles of ROSCOF cough syrup, containing codeine, from his possession. A case has been registered at NAB PS an investigation is going on, it added.

IMPHAL, Jul 27: Altogether six packets of Acticon/Actifin tablet weighing around 6 Kgs and worth Rs four lakh and one packet of Acticon/Actifin weighing 1.25 Kg approximately and worth Rs 83,333 were seized from one John Bhaiya (52) of Moreh Ward No 2 by troops of 11 AR on July 23.

He has been handed over to Moreh police station.

Moreover, 5400 tins of Bengali Spit Tobacco (worth Rs 81,000) and 1440 packets of Talab Pan Masala (worth Rs 10,080) were seized from one Md Tajuddin of Kwakta village, Bishnupur district at Bongyang village along Imphal-Moreh road on July 23. He has been handed over to Chandel P/S.

IMPHAL, Jun 16: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border Police Station arrested a woman along with 860 Amphetamine (WY) tablets on June 14. The woman has been identified as Nemjakim Guite (43) w/o Thongkhothang of Yangoubung village, Teng-noupal subdivision, Chandel district, according to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept. A case has been registered at NAB PS and investigation is going on, it added.

A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border police station arrested one drug smuggler namely Thingbaijam Rabi Meitei (45) s/o (L) Th Babudhon Singh of Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Uchekon, Imphal on June 6.

He was arrested in front of Lanchenba Hotel, Sangakpham, Imphal, Police Dept’s PRO said in a statement.

1 kg of opium was also seized from his possession. A case has been registered at Narcotics and Affairs of Border Police Station for further investigation.

IMPHAL, Feb 14: A combined team of Narcotics Control Bureau, BSF Field G and 54th Battalion BSF conducted a raid at a mobile drug manufacturing unit, located at Thoubal Moijing Awang Leikai under Thoubal police station and arrested the owner of the unit along with a huge quantity of morphine crude cake and materials used in the manufacture of heroin at around 6.30 pm on February 12. According to a reliable source, Heroin Number-4 is manufactured from this crude cake. The arrested man has been identified as Md Farish Khan (20) s/o Md Siraj Ahmad of Moijing Awang Leikai.

The source said that Farish Khan had admitted that he has been running the manufacturing unit in his house along with some other persons. However, Farish’s accomplices managed to flee the house before the combined team reached there.

44 kg of crude morphine cake worth Rs 44 lakh, 300 gm of morphine powder worth Rs 1.35 lakh, nine plastic containers, one aluminium pot, one glass can, one wooden pressing machine used for extracting morphine and one kg of ammonium chloride were seized during the crack down. Sources said that a kg of morphine powder costs Rs 4.5 lakh and crude morphine cake costs Rs 1 lakh per kg. Sources further said that locals of Moijing pelted stones on the combined team as they were returning to their headquarters after the raid. The arrested person was produced before the Court yesterday and remanded to Judicial custody till February 27. Further investigation is going, the source said.

Based on a specific intelligence input regarding peddling of contraband drugs from Myan-mar to India, troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South)

launched a search operation at Moreh Ward No 3 and apprehended an individual along with contraband drugs on January 16.

The apprehendee has been identified as Japheth Haokip (23) s/o (L) Thangpao Haokip of Ward No 3, Phaicham Veng, Moreh.

Around 200 gm of heroin was recovered from his possession.

The apprehendee along with the recovered item has been handed over to Moreh police station, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S).

A team of Narcotic Cell, Imphal West seized two parcels containing 26, 884 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules from the Imphal Head Post Office.

The approximate value of the seized drugs is about Rs 2 lakh in the grey market, according to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept.

A case has been registered at Imphal PS and investigation is going on, it said.

In an unrelated incident, acting on an information about the presence of some active members of PREPAK in Ghari area, a team of district police commando, Imphal West conducted frisking and checking at Ghari Lamkhai on Dec 29 resulting in the arrest of one active member of PREPAK namely, Md Yunush Khan (28) s/o Abdul Salam of Heiyel Loubuk, Thoubal district.

According to the police PRO statement, incriminating articles were seized from his possession.

A case has been registered at Lamphel PS and investigation is going on.

IMPHAL, Oct 30: A joint team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Imphal East Narcotics Cell seized a huge consignment of contraband drugs worth around Rs 20 lakh in the black market from Imphal Head Post Office today.

The consignment comprised of ten carton boxes containing a huge number of Spasmo Proxyvon capsules and N10 tablets.

The boxes, sent by Raju Singh and Bijoy Singh both from Kolkata and Sankar Prasad from New Delhi, remained as unclaimed items for some days before the joint narcotics team took it under their custody.

One carton box contained 18 bags and each bag contained 1,526 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon capsules and N10 tablets.

The consignments were addressed to Pawankumar of Paona Bazar, H Somorjit Singh and Sandip Kumar of Thangal bazar and Rajen Singh of PP Store, Keishampat junction.

A case has been registered at Imphal police station for further investigation.

Although, the authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cost of the seized drugs, it has been estimated that it will cost around Rs 20 lakh in the black market.

Imphal Head Post Office Post Master L Raikumar Singh said that the joint team opened the carton boxes after they took permission from the Magistrate.

He further said that the 10 carton boxes were kept sealed in Imphal Head Post Office from yesterday on suspicion as nobody turned up to collect it.

It may be mentioned that this is not the first time that contraband drugs have been seized from Imphal Head Post Office and other private courier services.

It is said that most of the psychotropic drugs are sent to Manipur from cities like Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati.

Troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) apprehended two individuals along with contraband drugs from Khudengthabi check post yesterday.

The apprehendees have been identified as Tualkhanzam (54), s/o (L) Thangvial of New Lamka, Churachandpur and Lalminthang (49) s/o Thangchinkap of Hiangtam, Churachandpur.

Around 39 gms of heroin, 1110 contraband tablets, two voter identity cards, two mobile phones, one transportation card and Rs 3,601 were recovered from their possession.

The apprehendees along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S).

IMPHAL, Sep 23: Troops of the 24 AR of 26 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) apprehended an individual from Sita alongwith contraband drugs on September 22. The man was travelling in a white coloured Maruti Van (MN 01S- 6828), from Imphal to Moreh when he was stopped and held with the contraband drugs.

The apprehendee has been identified as Basant Siwang(22), s/o Dhan Bahadur Siwang of Kanglatongbi, Imphal West district. 750 Alprozolam tablets, Rs1,450 in cash, a driving licence and two PAN Cards were recovered from his possession. The man alongwith the recovered items have been handed over to the NCB Imphal.

IMPHAL, June 11:Based on specific intelligence input regarding drug peddling on NH 102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Tengnoupal and apprehended an individual along with contraband drugs yesterday.

The suspicious vehicle, a silver coloured Maruti van (MS01 AL 7874) travelling from Moreh to Imphal was stopped for checking, resulting to the arrest of an individual.

The apprehendee has been identified as Md Akbar Shah (25) s/o Abdul Sattar of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi.

Approximately 10 gms of brown sugar, 2,965 numbers of WY tablets, one driving licence and one vehicle registration card were recovered from his possession.

The apprehendee along with the recovered items were handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S).
