Govt cracks whip against bandh

IMPHAL, Dec 15: Consi-dering the general strike called by Maoist Communist Party, Manipur from tomo-rrow midnight till December 17 midnight, the State Gov-ernment has directed all Departments concerned to take up necessary measures to ensure proper functioning of the State Government offices, schools, colleges, transport and business esta-blishments during the bandh period.
An order issued by the Special Secretary (Home) directed all the Administrative Secretaries and Head of Departments to ensure attendance in all their offices and subordinate offices during the general strike and to send attendance reports to the Administrative Departments concerned.
Failing to do so will result in departmental procee- dings against those who are absent from duty during the during the bandh period, it added.
The order further directed all Deputy Commi- ssioners to ensure proper functioning of all offices in their respective districts and to ensure attendance in all offices, failing which, departmental actions will be initiated against the employees who are absent.
It also instructed all shops and establishments to remain open during the bandh and all transport operators to ply their vehicles without fail. Failure to do so will be deemed fit for proper action, it warned.
