IMPHAL, May 26: Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) 2018 would be observed from May 28 to June 9 under the theme ‘Zero child dead due to childhood diarrhoea’, said National Health Mission, State Mission Director N Bandana.
Speaking to media persons at her Lamphelpat office today, Bandana said that IDCF 2018 would be opened by Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar at JNIMS on May 28.
Even though there is high prevalence of diarrhoea among children in the State, distribution of ORS and zinc tablets is not yet satisfactory, said the mission director.
She said that an extensive exercise of distributing of ORS and zinc tablets through ASHAs and Anganwadi workers would be launched.
IDCF has set a target of covering 3,37,200 children in the State. For this, 5,56,903 ORS units and 10 lakh zinc tablets have been procured, Bandana said. These items/drugs would be given to children through ASHAs and Anganwadi workers at district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, CHCs and PHCs.
As a part of IDCF 2018, Indian Medical Association would observe World Hand Washing Day, she said while appealing to all stake holders to make sure that IDCF 2018 is a grand success.
