CHANDEL, Oct 4 : Chief of Riverlane village Ws Boyes inaugurated an administrative office building along with a basket ball court of Maha Union Government Higher Secondary school, Japhou, Chandel district, which was renovated by Principal and the School Management and Development Committee.
The inaugural function was attended by community leaders including Anallon Chiefs Association Chairman Sng Lumdil, Pastor of Riverlane Sr Monos, Principal of the school Dr H Kunjabihari and representative from ZEO, Chandel, teachers and students.
Speaking to media persons, convener of SMDC Kl Arun said that the administrative building which was burned down by unknown miscreants in 2013 was purely constructed under the fund owned and managed by the school.
The school did not receive any financial assistance from the Government but restoration of the building became possible with the joint efforts of the Principal and SMDC, Arun added.
While maintaining that the school is the oldest Government institute in the district, he appealed all civil organisation concerned to spare Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School playground from conducting sports event and other function in order to maintain a peaceful environment at the school .
He drew the attention of the State Government to expedite the ongoing construction of District sports complex at Chandel Christian so that all functions and sports event is hosted at the ground.
Arun further appealed the Government to provide all necessary infrastructure that a Government school requires including Mid day meal, kitchen and fencing.
