KC Mallick football tournament MC down MFC; SFs line-up completed

IMPHAL, Jan 11: Isaac starred as Mongoloid Club squeezed out a narrow 2-1  win over Mission FC today in the last quarter final league match of the ongoing 26th KC Mallick Football Tournament at Jiribam Higher Secondary School Playground.
The win today propelled Mongoloid Club into the semifinals of the tournament. Other three clubs who have entered the semifinals are Chiru Sporting Club; UJB, Hmar Khawlien and WJFC.
The last quarter final match today saw a perfect beginning from both sides. Even as they launched raids against each others’ territories, none could succeed in making a breakthrough in the first half.
After the scoreless first half, both sides carried the momentum seeking chances to crush their rivals’ defence line.
It was Isaac of Mongoloid Club who broke the deadlock through his goal in the 59th minute. Isaac struck his second goal in the 68th minute to make it 2-0.
Undaunted even after conceding two goals, Mission FC put up a spirited fight to level the score. Eventually, Kishan pulled one back for MFC in the 83rd minute. Although, MFC pushed hard to find the equaliser, MC defenders were firm in their stand to thwart any further threat from the onslaught of the MFC attackers.
Mongoloid Club face Chiru Sporting Club in the first semifinal on Jan 13 while the second semifinal will be played between UJB, Hmar Khawlien and WJFC on Jan 14.
