MLA Karam Shyam donates half of his monthly salary to LKWWA

IMPHAL, Jan 31 : Langthabal Constituency MLA Karam Shyam has donated half of his monthly salary for the welfare of widows and orphans for a year.
As per an arrangement, half of MLA Shyam’s monthly salary would be donated to Langthabal Kendra Widows’ Welfare Association (LKWWA) which in turn would lend out the money at minimal interest of 2 percent and the accumulated amount would be used for welfare and education of widows and orphans.
The MLA, in a function attended by social activist Dr Dhanabir and AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai, said some education expenditures for about 457 children would be covered through the initiative. The MLA also expressed happiness that his initiative would enable admission of an orphan at MI Academy this year.
AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai lauded MLA Karam Shyam for the gesture. He said more Ministers and MLAs should take up similar welfare projects for a better society.
The function was held at Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong Leikai community hall under the aegis of Langthabal Kendra Widow’s Welfare Association.
