It has been more than 50 days now since the launching of protests by MUSU, MUTA, MUSA and other civil organizations for removal of Vice –Chancellor, Prof. A.P. Pandey. Because of the continued protests, inside and outside university campus, academic lives in the Manipur university and affiliated colleges has paralyzed completely. General strike called for 48 hrs on 18 & 19th July last by MUSU for removal of Prof. Pandey has intensified further as public have also joined the ouster of Vice-Chancellor.
The harm done to the academic lives of the students due to the closure of the university are beyond description. That P.G. classes have stopped, 6th semester examinations results delayed, issuing of original certificates and mark-sheets of various examinations have been stalled, etc. thereby causing mental anxiety and restlessness to many thousands of students and their parents, and spoiling career prospects of a large number of students of this state.
Sir, Prof. Pandey you should resign now in a gentlemanly way. You are known for strong political connections with BJP and R .S .S, as your better half is also National Vice- President of BJP Women Morcha. Since you are a Pucca politician of the country, you cannot run this central university simply on account of your lack academic values and wisdom.
University is such a place where persons having criminal characters and political affiliations have no room in a house of academics and young minds.
Since striking students, teachers and staffs are determined to oust you for your unbecoming way of an academician and administrator, as testified from your misconducts in flouting academic norms of the university, and for running university in a more “Dictorial/Dadagiri” way with the help of your “Y” category security cover, which is more like politician than an academician, it would better for you to quit your office of the Vice-Chancellorship at the earliest so that an interim V.C. can take charge to return fast the normal academic life in the university, while inquiry committee continues its probe against you as desired by the students, teachers, staffs and public.
Sir, you are fervently and honestly requested to resign now in a more gentlemanly way to pave the way for an early restoration of normalcy in the university campus and to save career prospects of thousands of students of the state and country. Sooner the your resignation, the better would be for the students, university, government and yourself.
