Senapati District Badminton Championship

SENAPATI, Aug 21 : A three days District Level Badminton Championship, organized by the Senapati District Badminton Association (SDBA) has kick off today at Indoor Mini Stadium Hall, Senapati.

Different sections of players were registered from Mao, Kangpokpi (Kanggui) and Tumuyon Khullen, other than from the DHQ. Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus, IAS inaugurated the opening ceremony with the CEO, ADC, Senapati, R Rang Peter, MCS as the Guest of Honor.

Speaking as the Guest of Honor, the CEO of the ADC lauded the SDBA for organizing such tournament in order to tame the youth of today from indulging into bad habits like taking drugs or any intoxicant in their idle time. Such sports can bring a change to the present youth by taking part in the field of it. He also called upon the youths to promote sports like badminton where it is also about maintaining good health, utility of leisure time with sports and excelling in sports. DC Jacintha a badminton enthusiast and a regular player at the SDBA indoor stadium joined the crowd with a winning introductory match.

Gracing the occasion, she praised the upcoming young local players of the district to continue giving interest in sports which need physical fitness also. Sports is not only to play she commented, but have so many social values in it and advises other sports too like Badminton to conduct such play so as to let a player participate at the National and even at International level too. RS Abel, Founder President, SDBA in his vote of thanks expressed words of gratitude to the lady DC who had generously donated towards the hosting of the Championship and also her assurance to sponsor the players who are going to take part at All Hill Districts’ Badminton Championship to be held at Tamenglong DHQ soon and every one present whose presence have the program a success. Exhibition match of the Championship was played between the DC with Luny Justin against CEO, ADC team up with Katinao. The DC team won the match.
