Senior National Hockey Championship (B-Div) Canara Bank set final clash with Punjab National Bank

IMPHAL, Jan 19 : Canara Bank will meet Punjab National Bank on January 21 in the final match of the 8th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship (B-Division) organised by Manipur Hockey under the aegis of Hockey India.
The tournament which began on January 7 is held at two venues (Hockey Stadium Khuman Lampak and Artificial Turf Ground, SAI Takyel).
In the first semi final match played today, Canara Bank relied on Pullanthara Moses to beat Central Secretariat 1-0 in a hard fought match.
In this very tight competition, Kp Somaiah of the winning side and Bijwad Vinayak were booked green cards while Pullanthara Moses was shown a yellow card in the 59th minute by the umpire.
In a very one sided semi final match, Punjab National Bank thrashed Bengaluru Hockey Association 8-1 to cruise into final.
Gagandeep Singh of Punjab National Bank scored the first goal in the 5th minute while his second goal came in the 30th minute off a penalty corner. Gurjinder Singh also scored two goals (15′, 32′) in this match. Sukhjeet netted one goal in 18th minute via a penalty corner to make it 5-0. Gagandeep Singh Sr also netted a goal in the 19th minute off a penalty corner and made it 6-0 before Bewajad Manikanth (31′) scored a single for the Bengaluru side.
The winning side went on to add two more goals and it was Antil Naveen who made it 7-1 through a goal in the 39th minute. The last goal came from the stick of Dalal Satendar.
