Dy CM extends financial support to badminton players

IMPHAL, Oct 4 (DIPR):Deputy Chief Minister Yum-nam Joykumar Singh said that Indian Badminton players are of higher standards and they will flourish in future to challenge world’s top players. He was speaking to newsmen at his Naoremthong residence today while distributing financial assistance to the parents of four U-15 and U-17 junior badminton players who are representing India in the Asian Badminton Champion-ship, 2017 which began today at Yangon, Myanmar and U-19 World Junior Badminton Championship, 2017 slated to begin on Oct 9 in Indonesia.

Imphal, Sep 26: Badminton Association Moirang today feted K Priya Devi, who paired with N Purnima and emerged winners of North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championship at the office of the association.
Priya and Purnima defeated Selina and Sunandita of Sikkim to claim the title in the championship recently held in Mizoram. Priya was encouraged with a simple gift in the programme attended by the president, secretary and other members of the association who wished her best of luck for her future ventures.

Senapati, Aug 29: The 12th Senapati District Bad-minton Championship 2017 successfully organised by the Senapati District Badminton Association (SDBA) conclu-ded successfully on August 26. The closing ceremony was graced by several dignitaries including Athem Muivah, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Sena-pati, PP Ronald, SDO, Tadubi and Duna Duo, SDC, H/Q, Senapati. ML Markson, Chairman, ADC Senapari, RK Thotrei, Executive Member ADC Senapati and other district officials were also present in the ceremony.
The closing ceremony comprises events including amongst others, invocation and presentation of special songs. The final matches of men’s open doubles and U-13 boys’ doubles continued after the opening ceremony.

Dinku and partner clinch mixed-double championship title

Imphal, Jul 16: Manipuri shuttler Konthoujam Dinku and his partner Shristi Juputi of Telangana won the mixed-double final of the All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2017, which was held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Kh Dinku and S Juputi defeated the pair of N Boka and Sahithibandi by 21-16, 21-16. This is the first mixed double title of a Manipuri badminton player at the National level.

Inter District Badminton c’ship ends

IMPHAL, Sep 7: O Aimson of BDBA beat W James of MPSC by sets of 2-1 to clinch the Men’s Single title of the 35th Inter District Badminton Championships today at Indoor hall, Kakching held under the aegis of Manipur Badminton Association. O Aimson also registered a straight set win over Mayanglambam Nicky to lift the U-19 Boy’s Single title.
