BISHNUPUR, Jan 9 : The annual scientific advisory committee meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Utlou, Bishnupur District was held at the Centre’s conference hall, chaired by its Chairman Th Chaoba.
KVK Utlou Chairman Th Chaoba Singh, ICAR Manipur Centre Principal Scientist Dr I Meghachandra, Agri technology research Institute, Meghalaya Principal Scientist Dr Aruna Sinha, KVK Bishnupur head, Dr RK Imotomba Singh and officials of various department of the district including horticulture, agriculture, sericulture, fisheries, veterinary, industry, forestry and progressive attended the meeting.
The meeting deliberated on various plans and actions to be taken up by the KVK in the district.

Awareness on water birds

Bishnupur: A one day awareness campaign on water birds which will be held at different areas surrounding Loktak, Bishnupur district, commenced today at Phubala Loktak Maru community hall today.
The awareness programme was organised by India Bird Conservation Network (IBCN) Manipur along with Gandhi Memorial Club Phubala, Pole Star Guardian Association Thinungei (POSGAT) and Kuman Youth Club (KYC) under Division Forest Officer, Bishnupur Forest Division.
The beginning day of the awareness campaign was attended by Phubala Gram Panchayat ward no 2, ward member Y Prem Singh, Range officer Moirang, L Babuyai, Range officer Bishnupur A Ratankumkar as dignitaries among others.
Speaking to media persons, Wild Life warden Bishnupur K Jugeshwor Singh stated that the migratory birds feeding at Loktak Lake will cleanse the polluted section of the lake keeping it clean and as long as they arrive at the lake, Loktak will remain clean.
He urged the people residing near Loktak Lake to refrain from using bird traps and to support the campaign to keep the lake clean.

BISHNUPUR, Jan 7:A 30 day revision coaching class for students appearing in the upcoming class XII examination to be conducted by COHSEM, organised by All Manipur Students’ Union, Bishnupur District Committee has started today with an opening ceremony at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Bishnupur district.

Bishnupur: In connection with the national level cleanliness competition, Swachh Survekshan 2018, numerous cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns were conducted at different areas of Nambol Municipal ward no 18.

Bishnupur: Loktak Khorjei Lup, Thanga today celebrated its third anniversary at the floating platform at Sendra and released its yearly magazine, Loktak Khol on the occasion.

Owl rescued

Bishnupur: Staff of Range Forest Office, Moirang along with students of Moirang College, under the guidance of Range Forest Officer, Moirang L Babuyai rescued an owl from the College campus today. The owl was found when the students were cleaning their campus and it was handed to Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroisemba.

Bishnupur: A combined team of Bishnupur district police conducted frisking and checking at Kwakta Pangal Lamkhai on December 29.

Bishnupur:Bishnupur district Police, under the supervision of SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam distributed uniforms to the 1350 VDF personnel of the district at the office of the SP today.

Bishnupur: In connection with the upcoming National level cleanliness competition where 4041 town in India would be competing, an awareness programme for Nambol Municipal Council ward no 9, on Swachh Survekshan was held at Kongkham community hall today.
Nambol Municipal Council Chairperson Ch Basanta Singh, Vice Chairperson A Bimola Devi, Councillor ward no 1 Ch Aruna Devi, Councillor ward no 7 L Biramani Singh attended the programme as dignitaries among others.
Executive officer M Nando, Councillor L Biramani and others spoke on Swachh Survekshan and its aspects, benefits and requirements.

Bishnupur: District and Session Judge, Ch Brajachand Singh inaugurated the 13th legal aid clinic of Bishnupur at Wangoo Ahallup Chuthek Leikai which was set up by Bishnupur District Legal Service Authority, under the aegis of Manipur Legal Services Authority.
An awareness programme was also held as part of opening the clinic.
The event was attended by Ch Brajachand, who is also the Chairman of District legal Services Authority, Bishnupur as chief guest, Wangoo Boryangbi Zilla Parishad member M Brojen Singh as president and ex-Zilla Parishad Member L Sekhor Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking at the event as resource person, Advocate Th Sudhir Meitei and PLV, Associate Professor L Gopal Singh elaborated on domestic violence and Domestic Violence Act and Importance of Legal Aid Clinic.
