14th MVCA veteran cricket YWC (L) beat Cyclone to claim title

IMPHAL, May 9: YWC (Langthabal) beat Cyclone, Thangmeiband to clinch the title of 14th Manipur Veteran Cricket tournament 2016-17 today at Luwangpokpa ground.
YWC(L) won the match by 1 wicket.
Cyclone won the toss and elected to bat first. Cyclone scored 94 runs for 10 wickets in 29.3 overs.
In reply, YWC (L) scored 95 runs for 9 wickets in 29.1 overs.
Priyokumar of YWC, who smashed 16 runs and took four wickets in the match, was declared man of the match.
The final match cum prize distribution ceremony was attended by Ch Chaoba Singh, retd Addl Director (Horticulture & SC) as the chief guest while N Indrajit Singh, president of MVCA was the president.
RK Bidur Singh, adviser, MVCA and S Priyananda Singh, Hony Secy, MCA were the guests of honour.
The winners got Rs 15,000 along with a rolling trophy while the runners up were presented Rs 10,000 along with a rolling trophy.

MP Verma Unity Cup Cricket Nagaland show exit door to Manipur

IMPHAL, Apr 11: Manipur’s hope of entering the final of the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cricket Cup organised by Bihar Cricket Association under the aegis of BCCI was dashed as the State team suffered a massive 83 runs defeat in the hands of neighbouring Nagaland today in the semifinal match at the Bihar Electricity Board Cricket ground, Patna.
Manipur lost to Nagaland by 83 runs today in the semifinal match.
Nagaland won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored 220 runs for all out in 38.5 overs.
In reply, Manipur managed to score just 137 runs for all out in 31.5 overs.
Homendro, Thomas and Th Kishan took two wickets each while William and Akshaykumar took one wicket each.
Manipur won the toss and elected to bat first. The State team took 240 runs for six wickets in 40 overs.
Manipur could not take higher run rate as star batsmen and openers Mintuchandra and Priyojit fell early. Mintuchandra scored 5 runs while Priyojit could score just one run.
Narsingh, Akshaykumar, Sultan, Homendro scored 19, 9, 4 and 8 runs respectively.

MP Verma Unity Cup Cricket Manipur beat U’khand; face N’land in SF

IMPHAL, Apr 8 : Manipur team beat Uttarakhand by 61 runs and cruised into the semifinal of the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cricket Cup today at the Bihar Electricity Board Cricket ground, Patna.
The tournament is being organised by the Bihar Cricket Association under the aegis of BCCI.
Manipur face Nagaland in the semifinal on April 11.
Th Kishan took three wickets and steered Manipur’s team towards the semifinal. William took two wickets while Holendro, Bobind and Akshaykumar took a wicket each in Manipur’s win today.
Manipur won the toss and elected to bat first. The State team took 240 runs for six wickets in 40 overs.
In reply, Uttarakhand scored 179 runs for all out in 32.5 overs.
Mintuchandra of Manipur, who hit 77 runs in 67 balls was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Narsingh scored 47 runs, Priyojit scored 6 runs, Akshaykumar hit 15 runs, Sultan took 8 runs while Holendra scored 10 runs (not out) for Manipur today.

MP Verma Unity Cup Cricket State team down Bihar by 119 runs

IMPHAL, Apr 7 : The State team got off to a winning start impressively downing hosts Bihar B by 119 runs in the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cricket Cup today at the Bihar Electricity Board Cricket ground.
The tournament is being organised by the Bihar Cricket Association under the aegis of BCCI.
Priyojit did the star turn for the State team scoring an impressive 74 runs and bagging one wicket in three overs to bag the man of the match award.
On winning the toss, Bihar B opted to field first and put Manipur in to bat.
Batting first, the State team started cautiously and Priyojit was the midst of the action scoring 74 runs with Mintrachandra keeping him good company with 82 runs.
The other batsmen also chipped in with the bat and in the allotted 40 overs Manipur managed to total 256 runs.
Faced with a mammoth task to scoring 257 runs to notch up a victory, the batsmen of Bihar B lost their way thanks to the wily bowling from the bowlers of the Manipur team.
The innings of Bihar B folded up for 137 runs in 19.1 overs to hand the match to the State team.
Other than Priyojit who scored 74 runs, the other batsmen of Manipur who contributed with the bat included Mintrachandra (82 runs) Homer (21 runs), William (18 runs), Akshaykumar (17 runs).
For Bihar, Imam scalped three wickets, Sashang three wickets and Prabhat one wicket.
Only Jaffer of the Bihar batsmen offered a semblance of a fight scoring 37 runs while the others gifted their wickets to the bowlers of Manipur.
Kennedy of Manipur led the charge bagging three wickets while Sultan and Priyojit chipped in with one wicket each.
Tomorrow Manipur will meet Uttarankhand in the last league match.

State Cricket team to leave for Bihar today

IMPHAL, Apr 4: A total of 16 players and two officials to represent the State in the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cup organised by Bihar Cricket Association to be held at Patna, Bihar from April 4 to April 12 will leave Imphal tomorrow.
The players are Kennedy and Sultan Karim of Champ; Narsingh, Akshay Kumar, Homendro and William of Cyclone; Saddam of Force; Bishorjit of Model Club; Mintuchandra, and Rajesh Patel of Re-youngster; Priyojit, Thomas and Bobin of TRAU and Kishan of YWC (L).
The officials are Binoy (Manager) and Rohindro (Coach) .
The Manipur team will clash with hosts Bihar on April 7 and Uttarkhand on April 8.

Manipur Cricket Association RK Imo stresses on grass root development

IMPHAL, Apr 2 : Congress MLA from Sagolband AC and president of Manipur Cricket Association (MCA), RK Imo has stated that without tapping talent and instilling the love of the game at the grass root level, it would be hard for cricket players from Manipur to shine at the National and international level.
The president of MCA said this at the sidelines of a function held to celebrate the inclusion of Manipur Cricket Association as a full fledged member of BCCI at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium at Luwangshangbam today.
Secretary of MCA Sinam Priyananda and treasurer Peter and other office bearers of MCA were present during the interaction with media persons.
RK Imo said that now Manipur has got full voting rights in the BCCI and added that to develop cricket in the State stress must be put on developing talent at the grassroots level.
To develop cricket there is a need to tap talents at the school level, college level, sub-junior level and junior level, added the MLA. If these stages are overlooked then Manipur will not be able to produce world class cricketers, he added.
It is towards this end that the State Government had put a proposal to instal flood lighting systems at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, added the MLA.
Since Manipur has now become a full fledged member of BCCI, funds may not a problem, if the guidelines of the BCCI are strictly adhered to, he added.
To promote cricket, there is the need to let the game reach all the sections of people, said the MLA.
The MLA also extended his best wishes to the Manipur Cricket team for the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cup Cricket Tournament scheduled to be held from April 4 to 12 at Patna. The tournament will be organised by Bihar Cricket Association.

Cricket players short-listed

IMPHAL, Apr 1: Manipur Cricket Association (MCA) has short-listed 15 cricket players and two officials to represent Manipur in the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cup to be held at Patna, Bihar from April 4 to April 12.
The short-listed players are Kennedy and Sultan Karim of Champ; Narsingh, Akshay Kumar, Homendro and William of Cyclone; Saddam of Force; Bishorjit of Model Club; Mintuchandra, Jayanta and Rajesh Patel of Reyoungster; Priyojit, Thomas and Bobin of TRAU and Kishan of YWC (L).
The officials are Binoy (Manager) and Rohindro (Coach).
The players are to report to Laithangbam Binoy, joint secretary of MCA at the association’s headquarters on April 2 (Sunday) at 10 am, according to a statement.
It may also be mentioned that the MCA has become a full member in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Manipur will participate in BCCI tournaments from next session 2017-18.

MVCA veteran cricket Model-B beat KSC

IMPHAL, Mar 25: Model-Bbeat KSC, Lambulane by  4 wickets  today in the ongoing veteran cricket tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association at Oriental College and Model Hr Sec school ground. KSC won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 106 runs for 10 wickets in 29.5 overs. In reply, Model-B scored 109 runs for 6 wickets in 24.2 overs. Pyarela of Model-B was declared the man of the match.

REYS, YAC script victories in T20 cricket

IMPHAL, Mar 22: REYS, Nagamapal defeated THAU, Thangmeiband by 62 runs today in the ongoing 1st MCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy 2017 at Luwangpokpa cricket stadium, Luwangshangbam.
REYS won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 132 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, THAU scored 70 runs in 20 overs.
Fine bowling performance earned Rajesh Patel of REYS the man of the match award.
In another match in the evening, YAC, Yaiskul beat KIYC, Kshetrigao by 65 runs.
YAC, who won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 116 for 9 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, KIYC took 51 runs and they were all bundled out in 17.4 overs.
Bowler Arnold of YAC was declared the man of the match.
Blue Hawk will face TRAU tomorrow morning while PTRC will take on PSC in the evening.
