IMPHAL, Jul 17: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), under the supervision of organisation secretary and coordination, E Mushuk Meitei, inaugurated four units of the students’ body in different parts of the State today, namely Nambul Mapal unit council, Sawombung unit council, Nambol unit council and Kakching unit council.
A press release issued by the secretary publicity and propaganda of DESAM stated that Huirongbam Monica Chanu, Khoirakpam Olivia and Thokchom Barlin have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Nambul Mapal unit council while Lairenlakpam Sophia Chanu, Ahanthem Bungcha Meitei and Jojo Sanasam have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Sawombung unit council.
L Robinson Singh, T Chingkheinganba and K Bidyasagar have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Nambol unit council while Jhaljit Yengkhom, Th Premchandra and Ksh Kahrin have been selected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Kakching unit council, it added.
DESAM will be organising a motorcycle rally from THAU ground to Khuman Lampak Main Stadium under the theme ‘Make education a disturbance free zone’, on July 5.
A press release issued today by the secretary, education and academic affairs of DESAM, further condemned the killing of Haokip Student’s Union president by unidentified miscreants and also appealed to the KSO to relax its indefinite bandh, called in connection with the incident, for the rally.
