IMPHAL, Jul 5 (DIPR) : The activities carried out by the Veterinary Department is highly beneficial to the farmers of the State, said Dr N Rajendro Singh, Director of Veterinary Department, Government of Manipur while addressing media persons today at the first session of the second day of series of press conferences organised by DIPR to highlight the achievements of the various departments of Manipur.
IMPHAL, Jul 1 (DIPR): The Department of Tribal Affairs, Hills and Scheduled Castes Development under the initiative of Government of Manipur is taking up various schemes for socio- economic development of SC and tribals in the State through imple-mentation of developmental programmes like family oriented schemes, welfare schemes, infrastructure schemes.
Imphal, Jun 30 (DIPR): The total production of paddy has increased from 4,39,000 MT to 5,97,670 MT of clean rice during the last 15 years with productivity of 2680 kg/ha against the National average of 2177 kg/ha (2010-11). The Union Government had awarded Krishi Karman Award consecutively in the year 2011-12 and 2012-13 for increasing rice production in the State.
IMPHAL, Jun 30 (DIPR) : Under the programme of Small Wind Energy and Hybrid System (SWES) of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt of India, had implemented 14 Wind-Solar Hybrid Systems in the State with a capacity of 10 kwp each for electrification at 14 villages of the State. Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) is responsible for the selection of the villages after conducting wind resource assessment to the hilly sites where wind energy can be tapped for power generation.
IMPHAL, Jun 29 (DIPR): With the concept of integration of sports and education under the programme Bharatiyam, more than 13,000 students were trained in 2015-16.
IMPHAL, Jun 28: As per advice from the Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Works Minister Ksh Biren Singh with the engineers concerned of the Public Works Department inspected the office building and classrooms of the newly established Manipur University of Culture and Manipur State Film and Television Institute in Imphal this morning. The classes of the institutions will be started from the academic session 2016-17.

IMPHAL, Jun 27 (DIPR): Under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) launched in the State from the year 1999-2000 by the Ministry of Water Resources, Govt of India, the Minor Irrigation Department has so far completed 945 minor irrigation schemes at a total cost of Rs 473.80 crore and 53914 ha of cultivable land has been brought under its command. It has played a commendable role in promoting agricultural productivity in the areas under its operation.
IMPHAL, Jun 25 (DIPR): With a vision to make good quality secondary education available, accessible and affordable to all children of the age group 14-17, 159 Jr High Schools were upgraded to High Schools under RMSA (Rash-triya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan). The upgradation was based on school mapping exercise. Engineering Wing, Education (S) and Manipur Development Society (MDS) are the executing agencies.
IMPHAL, Jun 24 (DIPR) : The State Public Works Department has taken up improvement/upgradation of 4376.139 km of road length during the period from 2004-05 to 2015-2016. Out of 4376.139 km, 81.80 km of road was taken up under the funding of Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and 163.05 km under Central Road Fund (CRF). 2456.39 km has been improved upto black topping and 678.59 km laid with sand single and 339.39 km improved upto WBM.
IMPHAL, Jun 24 : The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme was introduced by the Government of India in August 2004. It was later integrated in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme, to provide educational facilities for girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minority Communities and families below the poverty line in educationally backward blocks.

Imphal, Jun 20, (DIPR) : PMGSY envisages providing new road connectivity to 654 habitations in Manipur by constructing about 6000 km of road length including 20% up-gradation of existing roads.
