Work at Ukl market shed comes to a grinding halt

UKHRUL, Jun 8 : Despite the grand announcement by Chief Minister N Biren that women markets will be set up at all the hill district headquarters during his maiden visit to Ukhrul district headquarters in April this year, no progress has been made in the construction of the market place. Significantly the area for the market place has already been identified.

Ukhrul: Ukhrul ADC extended financial assistance to the bereaved family of late Ayetsete ( Ayelo) Wezah of Jessami village who drowned at Thetsu river on May 30. A team of Ukhrul ADC members led by its Executive Members (EM) Dickson and Themreishang inspected the destruction caused by the cyclone and the heavy rainfall. Ayetsete’s body is still traceless, although the villagers including volunteers from neighbouring villages have been searching since May 31.The team handed a sum of Rs 50,000 to the family of the deceased.

Ukhrul: The State office bearers of BJP Manipur Pradesh led by general secretary Premananda Meetei visited Phungyar Sub-Division headquarters to attend a meeting on May 19 , conveyed a press release issued by general secretary of 43 Phungyar Mandal Committee, Manipur Pradesh. The tour was attended by BJP ex-MLA Somi Awungshi along with the party workers, ex-ADC member K Joseph (senior party leader) and ex-ADC candidate A Joyson and Ch Hopingson . The meeting was held in view of the coming Lok Sabha election to strengthen the party organisation at the grassroots level.

Ukhrul: The Tangkhul customary apex body (TNL) has appealed the present BJP led State Government to immediately fill the vacant post of doctors and technicians in the Ukhrul district hospital.

Ukhrul: The Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) has revoked its decision to boycott any news of the ongoing Shirui festival with immediate effect, conveyed a press release issued by president of UDWJA.
It stated that the convenor of the organising committee and representatives of UDWJA reached an amicable understanding during a joint meeting held today.
The Shirui Lily festival concluded today.

Ukhrul: In connection with the celebration of Shirui Lily festival, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL)/ Youth Council has welcomed one and all to the festival and informed all to strictly follow the rules and regulations including smoking in public places.

Ukhrul: In view of the prolonged negligence on the part of district administration, All Hunphun Tang Association (AHTA) comprising of 21 localities has strongly condemned the authority concerned stating that many basic development programmes could not be taken up in time.
