No untoward incidents so far

IMPHAL, Nov 19: There has been no report of any untoward incident because of the indefinite bandh being imposed on all National Highways and State Highways by KSDC since 5 pm of November 17.
On account of the bandh, 40 loaded trucks heading towards Imphal have been stranded at Senapati public ground.
Except for some auto-rickshaws and private vehicles, there was little vehicular movement between Kangla-tongbi and Senapati Bazar along NH 2.
Nevertheless, some tourist buses including players from other States who are coming to participate in the 30th Junior National Softball Championship at Imphal were escorted by a team of 7 Manipur Rifles and brought to Imphal.
Unlike yesterday, a few shop were also seen open at Motbung, Kangpokpi, Sapermeina etc which are predominantly inhabited by Kukis. Strangely, the usual scene of bandh supporters blocking movement of vehicles could not be seen at any point of the highway.
Churachandpur: The public blockade imposed by Kuki State Demand Committee has literally cut-off Churachandpur with other districts in the state for the second day but traffic and other normal life went on as usual within the district.
‘There was no untoward incident in Churachandpur so far, but our volunteers have effectively blockaded any inter-district movement since yesterday,’ said George Guite, the KSDC’s information secretary. The local police have toed the similar lines as they claimed that they have so far averted any untoward incident in the district despite the KSDC’s high profile blockade. The state police were deployed in all vital locations along the Tedim road to thwart any attempt to spark violence by the volunteers and they have so far effectively contained the agitation said L Mangkhogin, the district police chief.
