Talking to The Sangai Express, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who holds the Home portofolio said that IGP (L/O) L Kailun and DIG (Range-I) Clay Khongsai have been stationed at New Delhi to look into the matter.
It would not be easy to give any definite comment on some events which took place 30 years ago, he said.
The matters have been complicated all the more as Assam Rifles and Army were involved in the said events.
Meanwhile, an official source informed that the State has collected necessary information and it would file an affidavit by November 21.
On being queried about the dialogue process between Government of India and NSCN-IM which is reportedly arriving at a solution, Gaikhangam stated that New Delhi would not take any decision in haste.
Even inside Nagaland, there are many differences and disagreements.
New Delhi would not like to create new problems or affect the position of another State in its bid to find a solution to the Naga issue, Gaikhangam asserted.
“It’s time for peaceful co-existence. Conflicts within ourselves would only amuse outsiders”, he stated. Categorically stating that Sangai Festival is not a festival for any particular community, the Home Minister remarked that the decision to boycott the festival defied logic. He further invited all communities to the Sangai Festival.
