IKPF, UPF hum contrasting tunes IKPF threatens to support bandh

IMPHAL, Nov 20 : The Indigenous Kuki People’s Forum (IKPF) has threatened to support the ongoing bandh being imposed by KSDC in case the Government does not take up some concrete steps by November 22 towards bringing a political solution to the issue of Kukis.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, IKPF general secretary Lian Gangte reminded that Kuki UG groups entered into SoO pact in 2005.

Even though it is seven years since the tripartite SoO pact was signed, neither the Government of India nor the Government of Manipur has shown any interest in bringing a political solution for the Kukis of Manipur.

Pointing out that the existing SoO pact would expire on November 22, Lian Gangte said that IKPF would support the ongoing bandh if the Government of India does not take up some concrete steps by this date to work out a political solution for the Kukis in Manipur.

He went on to assert that Nagas, Kukis and Meiteis are all separate communities who have their own languages, cultures and traditions.

Even if the people should suffer, IKPF would support the bandh because neither the State Government nor the Government of India is listening to the demand of Kukis.

Any form of dialogue towards bringing a political solution to the issue of Kukis should be at the level of the Union Home Ministry if the dialogue is with the Government of India or at the level of Home Minister or Chief Secretary if it is with the Government of Manipur.

IKPF president RR Chothe alleged that Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam talked in a pro-Naga tone recently.

Though Manipur has three MPs, they never put up the burning issues of the State in the Parliament.

Asserting that the existing issue can be resolved only through dialogue, RR Chothe said that IKPF would take up necessary measures to protect territory of ethnic Kuki tribes before ‘outsiders’ take control of the said territory.

He also sought support of indigenous Kukis, Nagas and Meiteis in the IKPF’s efforts.

Pistolson

Kuki UGs came into being in 90's just b'cos to fight the Nagas during ethnic violence, there's is no other objective. Now they'r just following the foot step of Nagas & start demanding KUKI state. On the other hand this Kuki UGs come out b'cos of NSCN. If there's is no Naga Kuki violence in the 90's there will be no Kuki UGs as well as KUKI will never ever come up with such Demand. To speak the truth this KSDC is pop up to disturb the peace talk of Nagas.

jake

man . . this shit gets funnier day by day . . . i mean does seperatism run in their blood or something

king

Tomorrow is my birthday so lift the bandh blocked immediately otherwise.....

Thang

R we really head-hunters & war-mongers just like the way they called us in the olden days? Still not civilised yet..........!

Mingle

Whatever strategies the government may be planning its better that it stops even if it was for the betterment or for anything else because it don't bring peace but frustration, and what everybody needs is peace1 ;(

@pistolson

Be prepare for the worst. If you think KSDC is just to disturb peace talk for the Nagas, you are mistaken. I agree the Kuki UGs are the product of NSCN (IM) sponsored Naga-Kuki conflict to some extent, but the Manipur govt fail to protect the victims of that conflict be it Nagas or Kukis. Many innocent people lost their lives beside many kuki villages have been destroyed. Till date there is no rehabilation, no compensation. the govt whose bounded duty is to protect the citizens are instigating the conflict and project them as tribal issue and never go deep into resolving the issue. Now it is too late. Kukis have no choice but to defend and protect themselves, so let's be prepare for the worst. If Manipur govt cannot defend Kukis and Nagas equally they have no right to claim as their people and should give up power over the HILLS. So let's make it simple.

master

Now, we realize that after feeding and nurturing these beggars (KDSC) from Myanmar for years and years out of sympathy, that their stomach is full and now thinking of swallowing the master. Goodness me OH..KDSC

supriya

Dear kuki brothers and sisters business man are becoming richer and richer day by day because you people called bandh/blocked every now and than, and the general public are one who become thinner and thinner like monkey due to starvation.

@@pistolson

Be prepare for the worst. Only Manipuri can do is counting the death bodies of the communal forces and making documentary film on the event of communal war how the divisive forces of tribal leaders create untold miseries to the tribal people of Manipur. On your death bodies we can build our Manipuri nation without any element of communal divisive force. These is what we can predict.
