Kakching, Nov 29: In connection with the reported missing of a 40 years old non-Manipuri man who went missing at Kakching, Thoubal district since Nov 24, the North East Support Centre & Helpline’s Manipur Branch has appealed to the Government of Manipur for prompt and swift action.
According to the sources gathered by fact finding team of North East Support Centre and Helpline’s Manipur Branch, Nitin Masih from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a lab technician, is married to Amila, the daughter of Naorem Manao Singh of Kakching Wairi Pung Pareng. Nitin came to Manipur on November 7 along with his brother in-law to celebrate Ningol Chak-kouba, a special Meitei festival held on November 15.
He went missing at around 2.30 PM on November 24 at Kakching Lamkhai. Before he went missing, he joined the harvesting at Kakching Leingang Ching and went to drop children at home, said a statement issued by K Madhu Chandra of NESCH.
Since the day he went missing, the public of Kakching has been men hunting. The matter was reported to Kakching Police Station and joint effort launched to search him. The public of Kakching has been sitting in Dharna at Kakching Bazar since yesterday. The police force has no clue until today.
North East Support Centre and Helpline called upon the public to provide assistance in searching the missing person.
“The matter of Non-Manipuri missing or any related crime such as like Nitin’s case is very sensitive for North East people living outside of the region. Such case can add fuel to the burning crisis of racial and sexual violence against the people and women from North East India living in mega cities of India.”
The Government of Manipur has a mandate now to ensure safety to all people living or visiting the state. North East Support Centre & Helpline appealed for the prompt action in searching the missing person.
Meanwhile, Amila Masih, who stayed back at Indore while her husband visited her native place, has also reached Manipur along with her seven years old daughter and her father in-law, it added.
The GoM or GoI shall not take appropriate action in this matter. If they do on the ground that the missing person is a non-manipuri, the whole manipur should errupt against non-manipuri. Before the Manipuri people, Irabanta issue lies and GoM & its master GoI did nothing to act against NSCN-IM who took him since may 28, 2012. If GoI or GoM is for Mayang or non-manipuri, then we the manipuris have no option then to fight for a cause which shall be the root issue-Independence from Indian rule.
If Mr. Nitin went to drop the children. The children must know whether he went alone or with somebody. Why the information from the children is kept secret. Is it because Mr. Nitin Masih left the children and went alone. Who knows, he wanted to get rid of his wife. So, left manipur and his father is coming to fool the people. I think this is a very good lesson for manipuri girls who want the mayangs.
baiya u r a frogs in a well. U don know how many educated manipuri r staying outside. If this is the attitude of meitei's u people wil not have any way in future.
The responsible persons should think more deeply about the unintended consequences of their actions. The Centre could use an incident such as this to re-impose the Restricted Area Permit, the temporary removal of which was a hard fought gain.
If those manipuris stayin outside think only for themselves(why..? they dont say a word when Irabanta n scores of other manipuris were adbducted n untraceable till today) wen a non-manipuri gt disappeared..bcoz of fear of unfounded reprisals, they need to giv a slap to themselves first b4 gettin a kickin their butts frm those who r stayin in d state!!
I totally agree with you. I find this cowardity of NESC and Helpline a shame. They should take a dip in the nambul river to wash away their stupidity.
My question to the negative comentators and Mayang haters. . . Is this the festival treatment given to the gentleman who came with high respect for the culture of the land?
Did you find him?
