Gaan-Ngai Festival 2013 : not a confusion which fall on 25th Jan
Sir,
We the Indigenous faith followers of Zeliangrong people deeply regret done by ZCC published on daily Sangai Express on the 8th Jan 2013 which randomly declare to celebrate Gaan-Ngai 2013 on the 24th of January with no proper facts and basis, claiming as an apex body of Zeliangrong traditional religion and culture without people view and concern.
Our forefather count day or days based on lunar Calendar year, this tradition has been handed down till date by our Zeliangrong people. T.R.C. council of the three states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland collectively together as one observed Gaan-Ngai festival on this 13th day of Gaan Bhu (Wakching). Janauary 24th and 25th being the same day of Gaan Bhu i.e. 13th day of Wakching) which interpolate due to lunar cycle of the month. Full moon ofGaan Bhu (Wakching) always falls on the 3rd day of Gaan-Ngai in which every Zeliangrong village Celebrate it [i.e. 3rd day of Gaan Ngai is full moon ofGaan Bhu (Wakching)] for many years.
Therefore, 25th Jan ‘2013 is an acception day where people convention of the three state of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland give their mandate. The State govt. of Manipur have been approved in its official record for many years. Even Nagaland state govt. has now recognized Zeliangrong people traditional culture and religion with the tireless effort being made under the umbrella of T.R.C. Phom (AMN).
We therefore strongly urge ZCC to be aware; and to seek people view and ideas before coming out through media.
We express our heartfelt greetings to every sections of our state for peace, love and understanding with the coming of Gaan-Ngai 2013.
