State Inter School Football: Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching and Chandel triumph in U-14 girls' clashes

IMPHAL, Oct 9 : Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching and Chandel District were able to post victories today in U-14 girls matches as the State Inter School Games Football Tournament for U-14 boys and girls kicked off today under the aegis of Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex. Altogether 16 district teams are taking part in the boys' and girls' tournaments and the winners will be representing Manipur in the 62nd National School Games.
Girls
In the opening match of the tournament Imphal East thumped Kangpokpi by 2-0 goals thanks to S Anjulika (13') and N Pinky (22').
The second match of the tournament saw Kakching edge past Kamjong team by 3-1 goals. Airina gave Kakching side the lead in the 4th minute while M Ambika who hit twice, opened up her account in the 15th minute of the match.
Kamjong girls fought back and pulled back a goal through Ayoton Kapai in the 18th minute but the very next minute witnessed M Ambika complete her double before her team held on to their 3-1 lead till full time.
Meanwhile in the third match, Chandel routed Churachandpur by 4-0 goals riding on Sanjana double.
Linthoi Devi opened up the scoring for the Chandel side before Eliya extended the lead to 2-0 while Sanjana Devi banged in her first in the 15th minute before netting her second goal in the 22nd minute to ensure the 4-0 finish.
Elsewhere in the last match of the day, Kimte Langel stole the show by scoring all four goals (11', 16', 22', 24') for Imphal West in the first half in their 7-0 demolition of Ukhrul team. Alina (44'), Thoibisana (48') and Hoineihat (50') then took charge of Imphal West scoring in the second half to ensure the emphatic victory..
Boys
In the boys' first match, Imphal East registered a 3-1 win against Churachandpur riding on Y Mahesh double (7', 25') and a goal by N Nenando Singh (21'). The Churachandpur side scored the lone goal through Ginminsang in the 30th minute of the match.
Meanwhile, the second match played between Noney and Kakching teams ended in a 2-2 draw.
Bedashastra (10'), Lanthuolong (11') scored for the Noney side while M Zakarya and Md Shaha Nawaz scored in the 23rd na the 48th minute to help Kakching salvage a 2-2 draw.
The third match saw, Kangpokpi earned a 2-0 win against Chandel. Khaiminlen hand Kangpokpi the lead in the 14th minute of the match and an own goal by ST Themlanson of the Chandel team helped them double the advantage. The scoreline remained undisturb till the final whistle and eventually Kangpokpi team earn the 2-0 victory.
The day also saw Ukhrul boys seal a comeback 2-1 win against Tamenglong. Yuimi (22') and Wungsung (35') scored for the Ukhrul team after Diuanlung made it to the scoresheet for the Tamenglong team in the 10th minute of the match.
