State Inter School Football: Bishnupur emerge U-14 girls champions, Ukhrul to meet Imphal East in U-14 boys' final

IMPHAL, Oct 12 : Bishnupur District girls were crowned U-14 champions at the of the State Inter School U-14 Boys and Girls Football Tournament-2019 being organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex after beating Imphal East 6-5 on sudden death.
Both Imphal East and Bishnupur girls were evenly poised throughout the game but drew blank till the end of the normal time despite numerous scoring chances they had. They were still locked at 4-4 in the tie breaker and thus sudden death was called in to decide the winners where Bishnupur managed two goals and Imphal East drew a single.
L Seliya, I Geetarani, Th Sanjita, H Bijiya Chanu, Th Rojita and Shilky scored for the winning side in the shoot-out while Anjali Gurumayum, K Anju, N Pinky, Ch Anjali and Y Naobi found the target for Imphal East team.
Boys competition
Imphal East will lock horns with Ukhrul in the U-14 boys' final tomorrow at 7 am.
Imphal East reached the final with a 5-1 thrashing of Kangpokpi in the first semi-final match today as Y Monish did the star turn scoring thrice. Y Mahesh opened up the scoring of Imphal East early in the 3rd minute before Y Monish banged in two goals in the 22nd and the 28th minute to make it 3-0 past the Kangpokpi side. The Kangpokpi boys however pulled back a goal during the additional time of the first half (30+1) to make it 1-3 at the break.
Kangpokpi boys' failed to continue their momentum after the restart and to their disappointment Y Monish completed his treble in the 36th extending his team's lead to 4-1 before his team-mate Th Olen slammed home the final nail in the 58th minute.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Bishnupur and Ukhrul were locked at 1-1 till the end of the normal time as Kazipmi's score for Ukhrul in the 19th minute was cancelled out by N Santosh of the Bishnupur side in the 58th minute.  The match was then decided via tie breaker wherein Ukhrul managed 3 goals against Bishnupur's 2, to walk away 4-3 winners.
