7th Junior State Level Hockey Ideal Club take women's crown as HU seal men's title

IMPHAL, Oct 13 : Ideal Club, Tera topped YCCIC, Kontha Ahallup 2-1 to win women's title of the 7th State Junior Men and Women Hockey Tournament as Hockey Union (HU), Lairikyengbam Leikai thrashed Khongman Stundents' Club (KHSC) 5-0 to claim the men's crown today at  Hockey Stadium Khuman Lampak.
The closing ceremony of the tournament organised by Manipur Hockey and participated by 7 teams in men's competition and 5 teams in women's competition, was graced by Seram Niken, Member  of Imphal East Zilla Parishad; Basudev Singh, president of Manipur Hockey; Athokpam Okendra Singh,  Member  of Imphal East Zilla Parishad; Irungbam Rabichandra Meitei,  Member of Imphal East Zilla Parishad and Lairenjam Olendro, Member of Imphal East Zilla Parishad as dignitaries.
Women's final saw a dreary encounter as Ideal Club and YCCIC could muster only few chances the game throughout. However, goals from T Ayingbi in the 10th minute and L Ritu in the 22nd minute handed Ideal Club the 2-1 victory against YCCIC, whose only goal was fetched by L Priya in the 32nd minute.
Meanwhile in men's final, G Dingku was the highlight as he chipped in thrice (4', 16', 27') for HU in their 5-0 rout of KHSC for the ultimate title. The other two goals came from the sticks of Ricky T (15') and Y Bidyananda (33').
Bishnupur Hockey on the other hand claimed the third place title with a 5-0 thrashing of HWC, Langthabal as O Shyam scored twice (14', 43') after Th Bikramjit opened up the scoring in the 12th minute.
The other two goals for the winning side were fetched by P Dinesh (26') and Th Avinash (58').
N Diana of Ideal Club emerged best striker in the women's competition while her team mates, Ksh Sophiya and N Helen were adjudged best midfielder and best defender respectively. YCCIC's Th Linthoingambi was on the other hand named best goalkeeper of the tourney. HU's G Dingku, W Neerajkumar were named men's best striker and best midfielder respectively while KHSC's L Sushilkumar and HU's Galendrajit were adjudged best defender and best goalkeeper respectively.
