Sr State Basketball C'ship: ESU-SRWC; Ideal Club- LMYVA in men's semi-finals

IMPHAL, Oct 16 : The semi-final line up of the men's competition at the 23rd Senior State Basketball Championship-2019 being organised by Manipur Basketball Association at Nahabam Basketball Court was completed today with the completion of league stage. ESU, Wangkhei will meet Sega Road Welfare Club (SRWC) at 4 pm tomorrow in the first semi-final match while Ideal Club, Tera will meet LMYVA, Lalambung in the last semi-final match latter at 5 pm.
In  a Group A league match of the men's competition, YOSC, Khurai earned a 62-58 win against Model Club, Chingamakha but failed to made the semi-final cut while ESU downed St Anthony 62-56 in the last Group A league match to make it to the semis.
In the first group A league match, Victor topscored for YOSC registering 27 points while his team mate Tarun managed 14 points to steer their team to a 62-58 win against Model Club. The other points for the winning side was scored by Philips (8), Naocha (6), Chaoba (5) and James (2).
Model Club were able to made their way back in the second period after a close competition in the first period but trailed in remaining periods forcing them to leave unawarded. Ch Victor led the scoring for Model Club with 13 points in his name while Vishal made 12 points. O Saviot (8), I Denil (7), Ch Ketanjit (4), N Nepolean (2) and Yaiphaba (2) also earned points for the losing side.
Meanwhile in the last Group A league match, ESU and St Anthony started the game on the same pace but the Wangkhei side surged ahead in the remaining period with Y Kaasper stacking up 25 points alone while Rungsung and L Boi collected 17 and 12 points respectively. S Subhaschandra managed 5 points for the same team while GA Subharaj and Y Babloo added 2 and 1 points respectively to make it 62 points at the end.
On the other hand, John Pao (21), Bosco (14), Agu (8), Somi (7), Khudu (4) and Yorshem (2) scored to make it 56 for the losing side.
