Sitting of NCPCR's Bench/Camp for redressal of matters related to child rights violation held at Cdl

Chandel, Oct 18: The 35th Bench/Camp of National Commision for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), which is the first of its kind for the State in Chandel district as aspirational district, was held at the multipurpose hall of Mini Secretariat, Chandel today, said a press release issued by the office of DC, Chandel.
The bench was attended by Dr RG Anand, member  NCPCR; Sumatibala Ningthoujam, Chairperson Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR); Krishna Kumar, DC Chandel; Ningthoujam Madhunimai Singh, SP Chandel; Paresh Shah, Senior Technical Expert (North East Cell & Education Division), NCPCR.
Team of officials from the State led by Sumatibala Ningthoujam, Chairperson MCPCR actively participated in the successful conduct of the bench while individuals along with NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, and children were also present and gave their submission.
They were assured of timely redressal of their grievances received through various petitioners with a definitive timeline.
Altogether, the Bench received 289 complaints pertaining to various child rights issues such as disability certificates, POCSO related cases, school, Anganwandi infrastructure, provisioning of primary health centres, mid-day meal issues, requirement of KGBVs in two blocks of Chandel district, requirement of hostels in far flung blocks, issues related to proxy teachers etc, were filed by NGOs, youth groups, village authorities of Chandel and Tengnoupal district.
Out of the 289 registered complaints, 200 cases were heard and addressed by the Bench on the spot.
The process of issuing disability certificates was initiated by the bench in the Disability Assessment camp organized by District Health Society Chandel during which about 48 certificates were issued to the concerned persons.
As a unique initiative during the NCPCR camp, a rally was organized by the office of the Chief Executive Officer, ADC Chandel wherein school children along with district and state officials took pledge on the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign to further the dream of Prime Minister for a clean and new India.
In the rally, more than hundred children collected plastic waste from the schools, homes, roads and neighbourhood areas spreading the awareness of cleanliness to achieve a plastic free district.
Later, tree saplings were planted under 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan Campaign' at the office complex of DC Chandel in the presence of Dr RG Anand, member NCPCR; Sumatibala Ningthoujam, Chairperson MCPCR; and Krishna Kumar, DC Chandel.
