FIRs clubbed

IMPHAL, Oct 17 : The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal West today allowed two different FIRs registered with the arrest and death of Kangujam Ojit of Bashikhong to be clubbed together
Court on perusal of the application filed by Inspector Pavitrakumar Roy CBI/ SIT SC III New Delhi allowed the clubbing of two different FIRs registered at Lamphel Police Station in connection with the death and another at Singjamei Police Station in connection with the arrest under 13 UA(P) Act.
Special PP CBI submitted before the Court that the investigation in the death of Kangujam Ojit on February 20, 1997 at around 4.45 am at then JN hospital (Now JNIMS) has been taken up by CBI and registered a regular case as per the direction of the Supreme Court order dated July 14, 2017.
It was revealed during the investigation that one FIR under section 13 UA (P) Act was registered against Kangujam Ojit  on July 19, 1997 and on completion of the investigation final report of the case was filed on September 5 same year.
K Ojit expired on July 20, 1997 while he was in police custody and after his death one unnatural death case was registered by Lamphel police station which subsequently converted it into a regular FIR under section 302/341 IPC against Naik N B Thakuri and other personnel of 30 Assam Rifles and later the case was transferred to Crime Branch CID Manipur and the final report of the Crime Branch CID Manipur was also filed on July 17, 2002.
