Workshop on Realistic Painting of Tribal Art held

IMPHAL, Oct 18: Tribal Affairs & Hills Minister N Kayisii has urged the tribal artists in the State to sufficiently depict/portray the richness of tribal culture and tradition through their medium of art.
He was speaking as the chief guest in the valedictory function of the five day workshop on “Realistic Painting of Tribal Art” held today at the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Chingmeirong.
Further stating that the tribal culture and tradition has its distinctive values and systems in attachment with the nature and society, he also observed tribals as the most sensible groups of people who have the highest regard for the Creator and its creations.
Terming the present era as the “era of the tribal” wherein tribal people have to realize the significance and abounding values of the tribal culture and nurture, Kayisii asked all tribal people, particularly the youths to be awake and nurture their own values and systems.
Maintaining that the tribal art has many intrinsic values of their cultures and way of living which need to be abundantly explored and studied upon, he lauded that the paintings created by the tribal artists.
The  works exhibited in the function reflected almost all the inherent values of tribal art form, he said.
He then underscored the role of tribal artists in taking forward the institutions for promoting tribal cultures and traditions saying that the efforts of the staff and officials concerned to foster TRI and other departments for tribals will not bear fruit without the support of tribal artists and people.
TA & Hills Additional Chief Secretary Letkhogin Haokip who attended as the guest of honour pointed stressed on the importance of reviving the values of paintings in the present day. He said that the emerging painters and artists should ponder on the ways to revitalize the importance of paintings as an art.
Certificates were also distributed to the participants of the five day long workshop.
The function was also attended by TA&Hills/TRI Director C Arthur Worchuiyo as president.
