Training programme on early detection of intellectual disabilities conducted

A 'training programme on Childhood Prevention Early Detection Intervention for Children with Intellectual Disabilities' for female ASHA,  Anganwadi workers was held at Utonglok village Saikul, Senapati district today.
National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in association with State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur & All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur organised the event.
National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities  (NIEPID) Secunderabad Dr G Mary Anurupa, Lecturer in Occupational Therapy NIEPID Hyderabad Mugesh Thulasikantham and Lecturer in Special Education NIEPID Regional Centre Navi Mumbai Ravi Prakash Singh attended training programme as resource persons.
Ph Victoria Devi, Women and Child Welfare Officer, Relief Centre also attended the vent.
Dr Mary Anurupa, explained NIEPID is an autonomous body that operates under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and is extending various training programmes and services in many part of India from the past 34 years for PWDs.
Ravi Prakash Singh, Lecturer in Special Education, NIEPID RC, Navi Mumbai, elaborated on various topics such as types of disabilities, causes, prevention, inclusiveness of persons with disabilities in the classroom, society and home, etc.
Mugesh Thulasikantha, Occupational Therapy, NIEPID, Hyderabad, talked also spoke about the care to be taken by parents and family.
Audio and video presentations with interactive sessions in between were organised.
