Prahlad Singh Patel notes rich culture of Manipur

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel has expressed that Manipur has everything ranging from fusion music, martial arts to variety of traditional attires.
“However, when we visit some States, we cannot find these diversities. All these diversities need to be accumulated and preserved so that the next generation will also move forward. The Manipuri University of Culture will play an important role in preserving all these diverse culture and tradition”, the Union Minister added.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of INAT, a cultural cum literary meet held at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society today, Prahlad Singh Patel assured that the State and the Centre eill work together.
University is the highest platform to train and enlighten the youth.
Other States may be famous in one particular field but Manipur is known far and wide in different fields. Manipur University of Culture will benefit the youth of the country not only by providing jobs but also by bringing fame to the State through art and culture, he added.
Delivering the presidential speech, Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh said that he is fortunate to hold the portfolio of Art and Culture. He also appreciated the Union Minister for taking up initiatives to promote and develop art and culture of Manipur.
It is through the medium of culture that peace and solidarity of the Nation can be maintained. It is also a vast subject as no one can master all the avenues of art and culture, he added.
Jayantakumar also mentioned that paucity of fund has hampered pace of development in art and culture sector.
He appealed the Ministry of Culture to provide adequate fund to construct/develop necessary infrastructure of Manipur University of Culture.
A project proposal pertaining to Manipur University of Culture has already been submitted. The Ministry has also given the green signal to start construction works in phase manner. Forest Department has also given clearance for starting construction works of MUC, he added.
Jayantakumar also sought the blessings and participation of the public to make the construction of MUC successful.
The inaugural function was also attended by Dy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip,  Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan, MLA Nahakpam Indrajit, and MUC VC Bobby Waikhom as guests of honour. Varieties of cultural performances were also presented by students of MUC as a part of the inaugural function.
