ASIMANICON kicks off

IMPHAL, Oct 19: A 2-day 24th annual conference of the Association of Surgeons of India "ASIMANICON 2019 was opened today at the Jubilee Hall of RIMS.
The conference is being organised by thew Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Manipur State Chapter in collaboration with Department of Surgery, RIMS.
The conference which is conducted under the theme "Surgeon & Technology" is attended by over 350 delegates.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural function, Manipur Legislative Speaker, Yumnam Khem-chand said that establi- shment of standard hospitals in the State not only started attracting medical tourists to the State but also reduces the number of Manipuri natives going to other States for treatment.
He also said that medical tourism is one important part of the tourism sector which has potential to improve the State's economy.
During the programme, a souvenir was also released by the dignitaries.
The programme was also attended by RIMS Director Dr A Santa Singh; Medical and Health Services Director  Dr K Rajo Singh, ASIMANICON, organising secretary Dr Sunil Kumar Singh Salam and ASI, Manipur State Chapter Prof Ch Arunkumar Singh, among others.
