Nagas pray for positive outcome

DIMAPUR, Oct 22: Even as the "extremely crucial" round of talks between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM is all set to be held on Thursday, prayer or fasting programmes for the success of the talks are going on in various Naga areas, reports NNN.
The Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC) had issued a clarion call to the Nagas to have fast and pray for the Naga Nation on Monday. The United Naga Council (UNC) too made a similar appeal.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has appealed to all negotiating parties for a “unified, acceptable, peaceful and lasting solution to the Naga political issue.”
According to a report in The Morung Express, the ENPO said that the Naga people expect “enduring peace in the entire Naga areas.”
“However, it would not be possible until all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) come together and hammer out the differences if any, and place common agenda before the Government of India for an amicable solution,” the report also said.
While appealing for peaceful solution, the ENPO made it clear that “it is not a party to endorsing public mandate favouring any particular political group.” It also appealed “equally to all negotiating groups to bring about a unified, lasting and peaceful solution, and not otherwise,” the report in The Morung Express added.
