Conrad seeks Rs 1000 crore for project completion in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 22: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has sought around Rs. 1000 crores from the Centre which will be used to complete major infrastructural projects which are pending in Meghalaya.
In his meeting with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi today, Conrad said that this will include the construction of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly while adding that this is from a special corpus for the States from the PMO.
During this meeting, Conrad also discussed several issues pertaining to the development of Meghalaya with the Prime Minister with emphasis on the upcoming National Games to be hosted by the State.
While highlighting the project under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment that is pending in the Cabinet, Conrad also gave a proposal for other important infrastructure for the National Games.
The Prime Minister after patiently listening to Conrad has assured that he will look into the early completion of the projects ahead of the National Games in 2022.
Conrad also invited the Prime Minister to the Water Conference and the launch of the Piggery Mission and inauguration of NIFT Shillong on which the prime Minister said that he will intimate Conrad later.
Meanwhile, Conrad also apprised the Prime Minister that he (Conrad) will be leading a delegation to Bangladesh in November with a view to establish better economic ties with the neighbouring country.
A plan to increase the exports of Meghalaya and making sure that the economy of Meghalaya is doubled in the coming years will also be worked on during this visit to Bangladesh.
