DIMAPUR, Oct 24 : The Government of India and the NSCN-IM spent much of their time on the issue of flag and Constitution during today’s talks in New Delhi, according to well placed sources. The sources said that the talks were “inconclusive”, and both the parties have decided to meet again very soon.
However, sources said the exact date for the next round of talks is yet to be fixed.
Since both the parties have decided to meet again soon the overall impression of today’s talks is considered “positive” said the sources who divulged this information to Newmai News Network tonight.
Amidst the highly charged atmosphere, the NSCN-IM leaders and RN Ravi, the Government of India’s representative, walked to the hot dialogue table to sort out differences on issues. The talks began with a prayer, said the sources.
It can be mentioned here that the issues surrounding the Naga flag and the Naga Constitution have been the hurdles for a breakthrough in the Indo-Naga peace talks.
Two days ago, the NSCN-IM had said that the Naga flag and the Naga Constitution matter to Naga pride, Naga identity, Naga security and Naga future. “And, this is the reason why Nagas are sentimentally attached to flag and Constitution”, the NSCN-IM added.
