Kohima, Oct 25
Naga insurgent group NSCN-IM has quashed reports suggesting that around 300 of its cadres fled Camp Hebron, its administrative and military headquarters in Nagaland’s Dimapur, in “plain clothes” on October 23 and entered Manipur border, before moving towards China via Moreh.
When contacted, a source from NSCN-IM said: "Not true at all. We have our men everywhere. But no such huge number of our men have moved out.”
Another source close to the outfit confirmed it further, saying” "It's totally false and [is] a propaganda to malign the [image of] NSCN-IM.”
The reports came amid the crucial Naga peace talks between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM in New Delhi which remained "inconclusive"on Thursday.
As reported, sources in the Union Home Ministry told EastMojo that the much-awaited meeting failed to break the ice as representatives of both the NSCN-IM and the Centre were seen sticking to their core demands.
A source close to NSCN-IM said it was an attempt to malign the image of the Naga insurgent group.
The dialogue is likely to resume after two or three days again, probably before October 31 this year, the sources added.
The sources further said that before the start of the dialogue next time, both the sides will exchange their sets of position on the whole issue.
Meanwhile, failing to reach any conclusion, the Centre has reportedly decided to meet the representatives of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on Friday.
