DIMAPUR, Oct 30: Marathon talks between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India continued in New Delhi for the third consecutive day today, October 30, even as both the sides are finding a "solution". Sources said that the talks will continue on Thursday.
According to the sources, the Wednesday talks had two shifts as both the parties tried their best to find the “solution”.
The talks began from 11 am, and after the lunch break, the talks resumed at 4 pm as the situation demanded. The sources added that the talks will continue from 11 am on Thursday, October 31.
‘Naga flag’ and the ‘Naga Constitution’ raised by the NSCN-IM has become a hurdle for the breakthrough of the 22-year long Indo-Naga peace talks.
On October 28, both the NSCN-IM and the Government of India had decided to hold talks on daily basis to find the “solution”.
On October 28 and on October 29, the talks were held on a single-shift basis. However, today the talks were held in two shifts. “We may have to hold in two shifts even tomorrow (October 31), depending on the demands of the situation,” a source said.
With today’s development, the NSCN-IM and the Government of India had 8 sittings already within this month alone. In the 22 years’ period of talks, both the parties had never engaged the way they did this month.
