17th KK Memorial 1st Divn League: Malreng treble fires SRDC 5-2 past AIFA as SWC take title

IMPHAL, Oct 6 : SRDC, Kakching eased to a 5-2 win against AIFA, Irengband riding on PL Malreng's treble in their last match of the 17th KK Memorial First Division Football League organised by District Sports Association, Kakching at its playground. With the win, SRDC managed the second spot with 15 points from 6 matches as SWC, Waikhong claimed the league title with 16 points from 5 wins and 1 draw.
SRDC got off to a flying start and led the first half 3-1 as BS Jackson and PL Malreng did a fine job up at the front giving AIFA defence a tough time. BS Jackson fired SRDC ahead early in the 5th minute with a fine shot while PL Malreng scored twice in the 18th and the 21st minute to make it 3-0 in favour of their team. Aboicha of AIFA however pulled back a goal in the 35th minute to enter in the break with score reading 3-1 in favour of the Kakching side.
After the restart, SRDC got themselves into their business and PL who was well placed capitalise on a fine chance to complete his treble and made it 4-1 past AIFA.
Under pressure AIFA, managed another through Romen in the 63rd minute but failed to match the pace of their rivals and to their disappointment, N Druba helped SRDC wrap up the game 5-1 with a brilliant finish in the 75th minute. It was the fifth win for SRDC in the tournament and thereby finished runners up with 15 points in the 7 team event.
The valedictory function of the tournament was attended by Y Mangoljao Singh, president, DSA Kakching; N Dhane Singh, president, KK Trust; M Ranidas , secretary; members of  KK Trust,  N Brojen, N Nityai, N Manichou, Dr N Rajendro Singh, Ksh Premkumar Singh and L Mohandas Singh as dignitaries who also feted winners, runners up and individual  and team prize winners. Winners, SWC, Waikhong walked away Rs 5,000 richer while runners up SRDC bagged a cash prize of Rs 4,000. M Bikra Singh of SRDC; Ch Milan of SWC, Waikhong; PL Malreng Chothe were respectively named best goalkeeper, best defender and best midfielder and feted with a cash prize of Rs 700 each while W Tejkumar of SWC and PL Malreng shared the highest scorer prize with 6 goals in their names (Rs 700 each).
Kh Priyokumar of SWC bagged the best player title and prize worth Rs 700 while DYA Elangkhangpokpi, which emerged best disciplined team, were honoured with a cash prize of Rs 2,000.
