Sh Mani Sharma Memorial 3rd Divn League begins

IMPHAL, Nov 10 : The 3rd edition of  Sh Mani Sharma Memorial Third Division Football League -2019 kicked off today under the aegis of Imphal West District Football Association at KYC Ground, Khurkhul with the participation of strong 11 teams clubbed into two groups.
The inaugural function of the tournament was attended by Irungbam Shanta Singh, Pradhan, Khurkhul GP; Yengkhom Muhindro Singh, Pradhan Khonghampat GP; Meisnam Mangi Singh, Pradhan Potsangbam GP; Elangbam Premkumar Singh, Ex Pradhan, Lairenkabi Kadangband GP and Wahengbam Mobimacha Singh, vice president, Imphal West District Football Association as distinguished guests.
Lungouhao stole the show of the opening match as he hit a hattrick all in the second half to hand KYC (N), Khurkhul a commanding 3-0 win against KAN, Kadangband. Both the teams were slow off the blocks and could not really capitalise on their chances prompting them to settle the first half in a goalless draw. The game however took an unexpected turn after the changeover with star of the day Lungouhao opening up the account in the 41st minute.
The goal greatly boosted KYC's morale and its striker Lungunhao proved his worth by adding another in the 48th minute before rounding off the scoring 5 minutes latter. KAN struggled the game throughout and eventually KYC cruised home 3-0 to kick off their Group B campaign in style.
KYSC, Hiyangthang will take on YAC, Yurembam in the Group A opener tomorrow at 12.30 pm before SUN-C take on JUV, Tera in another Group A fixture.
