Held with 10 kgs of opium

IMPHAL, Nov 10: Bishnupur district commando arrested two persons along with 10 kilograms of opium yesterday evening, during a regular frisking at Borayangbi Thoubal Leikai
According to a reliable source, a team of Bishnupur district commando, acting on specific information about transportation of drugs at Borayangbi Thoubal Leikai area,  rushed to the spot and conducted a frisking-checking operation.
During the check, a suspicious individual riding an Activa was detained for verification near the Masjid of Borayangbi Thoubal Leikai.
The detained person identified himself as Md Riyas Khan (27) s/o Nahamacha of Borayangbi Thoubal Leikai and on checking his Activa, one nylon bag containing 13 packets of a suspicious item were found inside the tool box.
Md Riyas Khan revealed that plastic packets were filled with Kani (opium) and the total product weighed around 10 kilograms. He also disclosed that the drug was given to him by one Jamkholet Khongsai at his residence with the instruction to hand it over to prospective buyers.
A such, Md Riyas khan was arrested and the drug was seized on the spot.
As follow up action, a team of Kumbi police rushed to the residence of Md Riyas Khan at  Borayangbi Thoubal Leikai and arrested Jamkholet Khongsai (51) s/o (L) Nepao Khongsai of Leisan Tampak, Chandel district.
Both the arrested persons and the seized opium were handed over to Kumbi PS for taking up necessary legal action under ND&PS Act, the source added.
