MSPM celebrates 15th annual conference & literary meet

Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Meghalaya (MSPM) celebrated its 15th annual conference and literary meet on November 9 and 10 at Shillong.
A press release issued by MSPM stated that Governor of Meghalaya Tathagata Roy graced the function as the chief guest while Sahitya Akademi awardee Kshetri Bir, Rajamani Nongthomba and Yengkhom K B attended as the guests of honour.
Speaking at the function, Tathagata Roy emphasised on his relationship with Manipuri language and culture.
He appreciated the initiatives of the Parishad in contributing to the development and promotion of Manipuri language and literature for the last 15 years in Shillong. Mangal, the annual souvenir of MSPM was released during the function.
Meanwhile, Professor Shailendra Kumar of the Linguistic Department of North Eastern Hill University was felicitated by the chief guest for his contribution to the study & research of Manipuri language.
A seminar was held as part of the conference in which the resource persons namely Dr Khundongbam Gokulchandra and Dr Sharatchandra Longjomba presented papers on different aspects of Manipuri literature in Meghalaya.
Two books written by KC Mangang were also released.
Poetry reading, cultural programme and literary tour formed parts of the annual conference. Delegates from different States of the North East and from the neighbouring country of Bangladesh participated the conference.
