NECC to be cultural hub of NE in Delhi : Jitendra

Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jitendra Singh, yesterday visited and reviewed the progress of the North East Convention Centre being set up in Delhi.
This Centre will act as a cultural and convention/information hub for the North Eastern Region in Delhi. Singh said it will be constructed at par with international standards, and will have a library-cum-reading room with material on the NE Region, as well as an art gallery showcasing the North East.
The Convention Centre will include an Auditorium, State Handloom Display, Food Court, Exhibition Space, Banquet Hall, Seminar Hall, Museum and library, among other spaces. Singh said that the North East region and its development is a priority for the Modi Government.
The Minister also said that the Government has taken various steps to promote the culture of North East region and this Centre will help in showcasing the rich culture of this region.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has allotted land in Sector 13, Dwarka, New Delhi, to the North Eastern Council (NEC) for the construction of the North Eastern Convention Centre. The area of the site is 5,359 sq. mt. (1.32 acres).
During the site visit, Singh instructed the officials concerned to expedite the process of construction work. He said that the layout and the design of the project has been approved and construction work will soon begin.
Additional Secretary of DoNER Ministry Indewar Pandey was also present during the visit.
