K Bikram, S Premila earn top places at Keibul Lamjao- Sangai Run

IMPHAL, Nov 24 : Manipur Sangai Run 2019 was successfully held at three venues by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports with technical support from Athletic Association of Manipur. Runs at Imphal and main event at Keibul Lamjao were held today while another run was held yesterday at Mao.
The run at Imphal was formally flagged off by Chief Minister N Biren from Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and it saw a participation of 520 athletes.
Imphal event
Md Sidique of LSA, Lilong was crowned the men's winner in the run held at Imphal with a best time of 37 minutes 48 seconds while SAA's Md Abdul Razaq finished second with a time of 37:54.08 and NSU's Ch Bungoulu claimed the third place by clocking 38:09.02. Md Sidique was feted with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while second placed and third placed winners got Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 each.
Md Minasuddin of LSA, Sunny Pande of NSU, Naorem Tokyo of HYC, Md Sabir of LSA, Sairem Priyobarta of SAI-SAG, Md Mujibur Rahaman of ELSA and Thiyam Probison who made their names into the top 10 places were also feted with cash prize of Rs 1,000 each along with certificates.
In the women's competition, T Russia of Ngairangbam won the top honour and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 as she completed the course in 43 minutes 21 seconds. Anju Khumanthem of Heirok Athletic Union bagged the second place title and a cash prize of Rs 7,000 while LSA's Sahida Anita claimed the third place title and a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
Y Ashangbi, MC Linthoingambi, Prabhabati, MS Ajina, Kh Nijelta, N Sunita and Devika also got Rs 1,000 for finishing within top ten.
Keibul Lamjao event
Kangujam Bikram Meitei of HYC completed the course in 1:13:55 to finish first in the run held at Keibul Lamjao while Kshetrimayum Herojit Singh of KNSAA (1:20:41) and individual runner Ningombam Pholendro Singh (1:21:02) ended with second and third places respectively.
The other runners who made it upto 10 top places are Sapam Romesh Singh (4th), Laishram Ingo Singh (5th), Laishram Pari Meitei (6th), Wangkheimayum Brijesh Kumar Singh (7th), Md Zamir Ahmed (8th), Pukhrambam Rakesh Singh (9th) and Naorem Naresh Singh (10th). Meanwhile, S Premila Devi (1:34:59), Ksh Romika Devi (1:34:45) and Thokchom Babina Devi (1:40:14) took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in women's event.
Makakmayum Minarishi (4th), Thongam Luxmi Chanu (5th), Meinam Sanju (6th), Oinam Bharati Devi (7th), Khangembam Naobi Devi (8th), Tongbram Minerva Devi (9th) and Kangjam Sanjana Devi (10th) found their spots among the top 10.
Top three winners in both the categories, were respectively feted with Rs 70,000; Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 while those who finished from 4th to 10 places were encouraged with Rs 5,000 each.
The run was flagged off by L Radhakishore, MLA Oinam AC from Sendra.
Mao Event
Meanwhile 84 runners including 72 men and 12 women took part in the run held at Mao starting from Tadubi. The run was flagged off by Losii Dikho, MLA Mao AC.
Kh Herojit claimed the men's first place cruising home in 33 minutes 04 seconds while Chwinglou (35: 50.01) and Pfokreni (38: 16.07) clinched the second and third place.
Loli Koshuni Christina on the other hand finished first in the women's event with a time of 43 minutes 47.51 seconds while L Ruth Kapena (45:05.29) and Lohri Roziia (46:36.27) bagged the second and third place.
Top three winners in both categories were feted with Rs 10,000; Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 each while those who finished from 4th to 10th places were handed out Rs 1,000 each along with certificates.
